South Farm….

….is quite simply one of the best known and popular wedding venues in the UK, and I am deeply honored to have been a recommended supplier there for some years now. Located close to the Hertfordshire/ Cambridgeshire border, about 30 minutes drive from where I live in Hitchin, I shoot approximately a dozen weddings here per season, and have experience working here in every month in the calendar.

It’s a wonderful rustic, diverse barn venue that’s specifically designed to cater for weddings, offering a flexible approach to it’s couples, with fantastic food, 2 beautiful barns and even piglet feeding!

My fantastic relationship with the team there is something I value greatly, and I have extensive knowledge of where the light falls across all parts of the venue’s gorgeous grounds. Have a browse below to see me in action here!

Cool. Creative & Easy-going!
Rafe has worked with us at South Farm for many years, and we’re always thrilled to work with him! 😊
Rafe’s passion for photography, his ability to think outside the box, and his determination to make our couples’ day EPIC is what makes him one of the best! He fits in so well with the team here South Farm and he definitely knows all the best spaces to whisk couples off to for absolute dream wedding photos. He is great to work with and we are really proud to have him on our ‘Recommended Supplier’ list. Plus his post wedding editing and album delivery are super efficient – we don’t know how it does it but we love it when a Rafe wedding album hits our inbox!

South Farm as a Wedding Venue

If you are looking for a unique eco friendly, family run wedding venue that grows it’s own vegetables and herbs, and tends to it’s own livestock, all set in picturesque countryside then South Farm could be for you. The team there is fully geared up to serve it’s wedding clients in the best way possible. Set over 20 acres of land near the border for Hertfordshire, the venue is known for it’s famous pigs and piglets, which couples can sometimes join for wedding photos. The venue is ‘Exclusive Use’ meaning you won’t be seeing another bride on your wedding day, and the team will give you their full and undivided attention.

Photographer Knowledge of South Farm

As one of South Farm’s most booked Wedding Photographers, I have a special relationship with the venue and team that work there. This means I know exactly how the wedding venue is run, how the light will look in each of the two barns, and also the Summerhouse out in the gardens. I have learned at each time of year when, and where the sun sets, so I can maximize the opportunity for golden hour wedding photos as part of my planning with you both.

Wedding Ceremony Options

With 3 options for your wedding ceremony, you can choose between the main Tudor Barn for larger gatherings (up to 146 guests), or for less than 100 people, and even better option is the Dairy Barn with more natural light. For good weather days, the gorgeous gardens and summerhouse are the perfect option for that outdoors wedding. Any of these options are a pleasure to photograph. The Horse Barn houses it’s own dancefloor, perfect for DJ’s to set up in including the venue’s in house DJ, DJ Gary . The Granary is an indoor option for drinks receptions when the weather doesn’t behave, and the Drawing Room is also available for special, small ceremonies and for groomsmen to get ready. Meanwhile the bride and her bridemaids will always get wedding-ready in the Bridal Suite split over two floors, with ample space for hair and make up.

Wedding Venue Accomodation

Another attraction of South Farm are the brightly painted and authentic romany caravans that guests can stay in overnight, plus regular guest rooms in the main building and those surrounding the courtyard adjacent to the barns. There are 3 bars at the venue, with one being outside for good weather days, and the others in the Tudor Barn and Granary.

South Farm Food

As a wedding photographer who has eaten more than a few wedding supplier meals, I can wholeheartedly say that South Farm’s food is up there with the very best in the country. Organic, home grown food is all freshly cooked on site, and of course there are their famous Hog Roasts. For evening food I would highly recommend the Noodle Bar option; an exquisite Thai Food selection for wedding guests that’s bound to impress.

Happy Wedding Couples

All of my previous wedding clients have been extremely happy with the service that South Farm provided them, and if you are looking for a wedding photographer based in Hertfordshire that knows the venue well, then I’m your man.
