The Pirton Boy Comes Home! - Tim & Paul's Pirton Wedding Party

Pirton born and raised Tim recently celebrated his marriage to partner Paul at their home in San Diego, California, but they were both keen to celebrate with their English friends and family before jetting off to honeymoon in Italy. Pirton is a small village near Hitchin in Hertfordshire and doesn't often host weddings, however a marquee was set up in the grounds of the village Sports and Social club, and the weather was fantastic. Californian even. Here's what happened:

All Saints Church, Hertford & The Priory Barn, Little Wymondley Sont Magnifique

I have to say, I have shot in quite a few churches and All Saints in Hertford has to be my favourite so far. Loads of space, beautiful building, and a wonderful fun and easy going female vicar. All the ingredients a photographer needs to work his or her magic!

Emily and Andrew met 3 and a half years ago via the eharmony dating website. On their first date Emily was so against wearing high heels that she combined a nice work dress with Converse trainers. Because comfort matters! Andrew still mentions this point to this day!

After the aforementioned ceremony at All Saints we grabbed a few shots of close family and a few more of the amazing Aston Martin DB5 borrowed for the day, and everyone headed over to The Priory Barn in Little Wymondley near Hitchin for the reception party.

With Emily having lived in France for a several years, she had many friends from the other side of the channel in attendance, and some of the gang decided to spring a surprise game on the couple by getting them both up on stage sat back to back, and holding his and her cards. They had to answer questions about each other and weren't allowed to speak - just holding up a him or her sign! Combined with some entertaining speeches, a fab disco, a James Bond theme throughout and an impromptu singalong, there was more than enough entertainment for everyone!

Hitchin Priory Autumn Wedding Starring Melanie & Graham

Being a Hitchin resident myself, it's always a treat shoot weddings in my own town, and Hitchin Priory makes for a perfect venue with it's beautiful old building, and grounds. I was thrilled to meet Mel and Graham 14 months ago in a coffee shop just yards away from it to discuss their wedding plans.

Mel and Graham met 9 years ago whilst Mel was studying in Potters Bar to be a veterinary surgeon. Their first holiday together came the following summer - a 3000 mile road trip around France over 10 days with a 2-man tent and an AA road atlas as their means of survival. Needless to say they tolerated each other well enough and haven't looked back since. Apparently, Mel settles for being 5th in the household pecking order after Graham and the 3 cats, as long as Graham remembers who really wears the trousers!

Fast forward to October 2015 and the couple both prepared themselves in different parts of Hitchin Priory with people keeping watch to ensure they wouldn't see each other. Graham's groom party thought it would be amusing to stage a breakdown of his beloved BMW (often bumping Mel into 6th in the house pecking order!). Meanwhile Mel and the girls enjoyed a group shot of each other in their PJ's and pretty soon everyone was ready and the ceremony was under way.

My 3 man team for the day including Steve Granger (Second Shooting) and my glamorous assistant (Karolina Janiszewska) pulled out all the stops to ensure we got the images we needed, and me managed to close the evening with a beautiful shot of the happy couple silhouetted against the Priory building.

Lilley Village Hall Wedding, Hitchin, Hertfordshire with Lisa & Danny

Lisa & Danny enjoyed a lovely wedding utilising the village of Lilley to its fullest! St Peters Church as used for the ceremony before everyone trotted across the green to the village hall just yards away. Their twin girls looked beautiful as flower girls and the wedding party enjoyed a lovely warm summers day before dancing their socks off in the evening disco!

Hitchin Priory, Hertfordshire Wedding Photography - Hayley & Steve

Hitchin Priory in Hertfordshire is one of my favourite  local venues, thanks to the beautiful building, bridal prep area and excellent staff on hand throughout the day. I love it when there is emotion at a wedding. Thankfully Steve provided me with an emotion overload on the day, be it tears of joy or a bellyful of laughter. Hayley and Steve's entourages ensured it was a fun day from start to finish and the beautiful house at Hitchin Priory provided me with a stunning backdrop to finish the evening with a silhouette of the happy couple with all of the pressures of a wedding day lifted! Hitchin Lavender Farm, Hertfordshire - Family Photoshoots

I'm very lucky to live so close to such a beautiful location as Hitchin Lavender Farm. Although we left it quite late in the season this year I managed to book in 4 families to get some fantastic shots of them with their kiddies. Even when the sky is cloudy, the strength of the colours there just light up the images.

Next year I intend to book some Engagement Shoots there, and will be planning special Family Photoshoot Evenings there once again. Please get in touch if you'd like to reserve a date now!

Abigail & Onur Engagement Shoot - Oughtonhead Common Nature Reserve, Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Despite living in central London, Abby has family roots in North Herts so the couple were happy to come and meet me nearby to explore the many paths running through the beautiful Oughtonhead Common Nature Reserve near Hitchin. Their big day is right around the corner down at Hatfield House and I'm very much looking forward to it!

Megan & Karl Wedding - Knebworth Barns, Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire

The day began with Megan getting ready with her daughter Violet, sister Emily, and sister-in-law (to be) Makela at Megan's house in Pirton. BM Beauty Studio provided the hair and make up for the day while meanwhile Karl was getting ready with his boys Jacob & Elijah at his parents house in Hitchin. The ceremony was held at St Faiths Church in Walsgrave, Hitchin which was conveniently located halfway between both sets of parents houses!
The bridal party made a quick detour to Megan's parents house to put the wedding dress and final touches together, where a classic white Roller was ready to run them the short journey to church.
During a beautiful ceremony there were a couple of readings from family friends, and Megan's Mum even joined the choir for the final song of the ceremony. Unfortunately during the ceremony the heavens decided to open and guests were unable to leave the church immediately. While cake was being served to guests, we still managed to get a couple of shots of the newly wed couple in the church doorway courtesy of a well placed umbrella!
The party then moved on to Knebworth Barns for the reception, by which time the weather had brightened up, and late in the evening we were treated to a beautiful golden haze which capped off a wonderful day beautifully. Much dancing was done, including a group effort to Cameo - Candy and I made sure I stuck around to capture it all unfold.
Many thanks to Gemma Chase Photography for her excellent eye, wedding guest handling, and all round support once again!
